Greg Grissom Takes a Pot

With the board showing on the turn, the big blind bets 1,200, and Greg Grissom calls.

The river card is the , and the big blind bets 1,600. Grissom thinks for a bit before he asks, “Did you hit it?” Grissom studies his opponent, who says nothing. Grissom then adds, “Smile if you hit it,” and his opponent gives a small smile.

Grissom seems resigned to defeat as he makes the call, but the big blind says, “Two pair,” as he shows . Grissom replies with “Me too,” but he turns over a higher two pair with to win the pot.

As Grissom pulls in the pot, he says, “You lied to me. You smiled.”
