Greg Wagner Triples Up; Charlie Carrel Breaks Even

Mar 13, 2017

A player raises from middle position to 8,500, Charlie Carrel reraises from middle position to 21,000, and Greg Wagner moves all in from the button for 46,500. The middle-position player moves all in over the top for about 93,000, and Carrel goes into the tank.

Wagner talks to Carrel while he tanks, and Carrel eventually calls. Here are their cards in descending order of chip stacks:

Charlie Carrel:  Diamond AClub K
Middle Position:  Heart QDiamond Q
Greg Wagner:  Heart AClub A

The board comes Club 9Heart 7Spade 6Spade KClub J, and Wagner briefly-but-loudly celebrates his win before stepping back to the table to say, “Sorry to celebrate so much.”

But Mimi Luu, sitting two to his right, tells Wagner, “Let it out, baby. Let it out.” Wagner holds back, but Luu tells him again that it’s okay to celebrate. Finally, Wagner lets out one last “Whoo!” and Luu claps and says, “There you go, baby! There you go!”

Wagner wins the main pot to triple up to nearly 150K, while Carrel wins the side pot to eliminate the other player and effectively break even on the hand.
