Hand #24: Tom Riley Sextuples Up to 13K

Mar 14, 2017

In the 24th hand of hand-for-hand play on the Money Bubble, short stack Tom Riley calls all in from UTG+1 for 1,000, and Charlie Carrel raises from middle position to 16,000. Everyone else folds, but the two players have to wait for all other action to complete at the other tables before revealing their cards.

When the seven-minute hand between big stacks Niall Farrell and Chuck Nguyen is finally complete, Riley shows Club KDiamond Q, and Carrel turns over — Spade 9Spade 2.

The board comes Club AClub 9Heart 6Heart QDiamond A — the crowd cheers as Carrel pairs his nine on the flop, and they cheer again when Riley pairs his queen on the turn. At this point, a lot of players in the field seem to be rooting for Riley to make it into the money, and he wins the pot with two pair, aces and queens, to more than sextuple his chip stack to 13K. (We misspoke earlier when we said he duodecupled up, because we forgot about his ante.)

Tom Riley  –  13,000  (<2 bb)
Charlie Carrel  –  675,000  (84 bb)

The shortest stack in the field is now Mike Lancaster, who will be in the small blind next hand with 9,000 in chips.
