Hand #55 – Thomas Marchese raises under the gun to 55,000, and Christopher Bonita appears to call from the button but puts out 61,000. The dealer returns 6,000 to him.
The flop comes [As9h2d], Marchese bets 62,000, Bonita moves all in for about 400,000, and Marchese calls with [AcKd] for a pair of aces, top kicker. Bonita turns over [AdQs] for the same pair with a lower kicker. Bonita needs to improve to stay alive.
The turn is the [6h], the river is the [Jd], and Marchese wins the pot with his king kicker to eliminate Christopher Bonita in ninth place, earning $61,480.
Thomas Marchese – 2,230,000
Christopher Bonita – Out in 9th Place ($61,480)
After Bonita leaves the area, Sorel Mizzi and Mohsin Charania, who are seated near Bonita, tell Marchese that they think Bonita didn’t see Marchese’s preflop raise, and thought he was opening the pot for 61,000. It doesn’t matter now, but if that is what happened, it’s just a reminder to always pay close attention to the situation at the poker table, especially when you are a few spots away from a televised final table.
