Hands #71- #75: Cruz Laying Down the Hammer

Nov 6, 2016

Hand #71: Cruz raised to 300,000 with Club 9Heart 9 and Yong called with Diamond JSpade 7. The flop of Club 8Diamond 10Heart A saw both men check, but on the Club Q turn, Cruz called Yong’s bet of 400,000. The river was a complete brick, in the shape of the Diamond 5 and Yong checked. At showdown, Cruz’s pocket nines took in another pot to put him over the 100 big blind mark, with Yong holding 29 big blinds.

Hand 72#: Pocket aces again for Luis Cruz! Yong called pre-flop with Spade 8Club 7 and called a raise to 450,000 from Cruz. The flop of Heart 3Diamond QSpade 5 saw Crus bet 600,000 and that got through. Cruz is getting the cards at exactly the right time in a multi-table tournament, with aces twice in four hands heads-up!!

Hand #73: Cruz raised to 300,000 with Heart ADiamond 6 and Chris Yong looked down at Heart KHeart 10 and a three-bet from Yong took it down. If you were Cruz, why risk a dominated spot with aces coming up the next hand?

Hand #74: Only joking. Yong raised with Club QDiamond 10 pre-flop on the button, Cruz calling with Heart KSpade 2 The flop of Club 7Diamond 6Diamond 9 saw Yong bet out and take it down.

Hand #75: Cruz limped with Spade QDiamond 8 and Yong checked with Spade 8Club 7. The flop of Spade KDiamond 7Spade 4 saw Yong call Cruz’s bet of 130,000. The turn of Diamond 4 saw both men check, but the river Heart 5 saw Yong value-bet his two-pair and Cruz folded to the 300,000 bet. A tiny bite back from Yong, but it has been a devastating heads-up battle in Cruz’s favour so far.
