Dominik Nitsche has just doubled up through front runner Claude Sacks in very fortunate circumstances. We didn’t see the hand but the pair of them orated it for us; although Nitsche was the more reluctant of the two, for obvious reasons.
Hennie Appel limped into the pot and Nitsche decided to isolate from the cutoff. Sacks was seated in the big blind and he made the three-bet to 5,400, Appel folded, Nitsche four-bet to 10,500 and Appel flatted. The flop was [8x] [4x] [2x] (2 x diamonds) and Sacks check-called a 7,000 Nitsche c-bet. The turn was the [Ax] and this time Sacks led for 14,000, Nitsche moved all-in for 34,000 and Sacks thought for a while before making the call.
Nitsche was holding the four-bet powerhouse that is [8x] [6x] and Sacks was holding the lead and [Ax] [Qx]. The river was the [6x] and the two pair of Nitsche spared his blushes.
Nitsche ~ 85,000
Sacks ~ 80,000
