Jason Koon raises in late position and Mark Newhouse shoves all-in from the button for 207,000. Jared Jaffee is in the small blind and reraises all-in over the top of Newhouse for around 340,000. Koon, who has both players covered, lets out a sigh. "This could be a chip lead pot," he tells himself. "Okay, I call."
Koon shows [JsJc], Jaffee turns up [AcJh], and Newhouse has the best of it with [KsKh]. The board runs out [Th5s3c2c3s] and Newhouse takes the main pot, while Koon scoops the side pot. Jaffee is eliminated.
Mark Newhouse – 650,000 (54 big blinds)
Jason Koon – 365,000 (31 big blinds)
Jared Jaffee – eliminated in 23rd place ($19,334)
After the hand, Allen Kessler congratulate Newhouse, saying, "See? You fold that hand to me and now you win it all right back."
"Yeah," Newhouse agrees. "I folded king-queen (giving Newhouse top pair), but I assume you had that crushed."
Kessler is dead silent and the table starts to giggle. Newhouse takes the news Kessler might have bluffed him in stride. "Well, if you didn’t, nice play," he tells Kessler as he stacks his newly acquired chips.
