Jason Mercier Chips Up

Oct 28, 2010

Six players see a flop of [Jh6c5s] in a limped pot.  The player in the big blind bets 300, Steven Burkholder (PiKappRaider) calls from middle position, and Jason Mercier calls from the cutoff.

The turn brings the [8h] and everyone checks.  The river is the [7s] and the player in the big blind bets 500, which Burkholder calls.  Mercier raises to 4,000, prompting a quick fold from the big blind and a relatively quick call from Burkholder.

Jason flips over [8c9s] for a nine-high straight andasks, "Chopped pot?"

Burkholder simply shakes his head and mucks his card, giving Mercier the pot.

This is not the first time these two have clashed on the felt.   Just before the hand began, Mercier was regaling the table with the story of how he defeated Burkholder heads-up for a bracelet at the 2009 WSOP.

Jason Mercier- 38,000
Steve Burkholder- 22,000
