Jean-Claude Moussa raises from late position to 26,000, Annie Duke reraises from the button to 66,000, and Masa Kagawa calls from the big blind. The flop comes [Qs8s4s], and all three players check.
The turn card is the [6c], Kagawa bets 88,000, and Moussa moves all in for 231,000. Duke folds (she later claims she had jacks), and Kagawa tanks for several minutes before he calls.
A crowd has gathered around the table by this point, and Moussa turns over [Js10s] for a flopped spade flush. Kagawa knocks the table to indicate that it’s good and imply that he’s drawing dead, and he doesn’t want to show his cards. The dealer makes him turn them over, and Kagawa has [KdQc] for a pair of queens.
Scott Seiver, who was sweating the action during a break in the nearby high-rollers tournament, loudly exclaimed that he lost a $100 bet because of Kagawa’s hand.
The meaningless river card pairs the board with the [Qh] to give Kagawa trip queens, but Moussa wins the pot with his flush to double up.
Jean-Claude Moussa – 672,000
Masa Kagawa – 1,129,000
Annie Duke – 241,000
