Jeff Madsen Out in 39th on a Bad Beat ($21,700)

Dec 9, 2013

Jeff Madsen raises UTG+1 to 13,000, Steven Silverman reraises from the big blind to 44,000, and Madsen calls.

The flop comes [KsJs5c], Silverman bets 48,000, Madsen raises to 108,000, and Silverman tanks for a long time before he three-bets all in for about 380,000.

Madsen calls all in for about 300,000 with [5d5h] for a set of fives. Silverman turns over [AcKd] for a pair of kings, and Madsen is a huge favorite to double up here.

But the turn card pairs the board with the [Jh], and the river card double-pairs the board with the [Kh] — giving Silverman kings full of jacks. Jean-Robert Bellande reacts strongly to the bad beat, but neither of the players involved show much reaction.

The stacks are counted down, but it’s quickly clear that Silverman has Madsen covered, and Madsen is eliminated in 39th place.

Steven Silverman – 785,000  (130 bb)
Jeff Madsen – Eliminated in 39th Place  ($21,700)
