Joe Ardagna knows how to wield a short stack, and it earned him some money today.
The Fallsview poker regular was in bad shape as the field neared the money bubble, he lost a critical hand with AQ into AK to leave him with a single 1K chip to ante on the next hand. With 69 players remaining and 63 getting paid, the first step was winning that first hand, which he did to move up to 8,000. The next hand saw him find some luck to stay alive when his chopped against when the board ran out .
One more double up and he was able to get his all in moves through. Ardagna spent most of his time on the rail during hand-for-hand action on the bubble when Rafik Yeghnazari put the main event in the money.
Ardagna made the money with only 11,000 but that was good enough for a min-cash worth CAD $8,176.
This isn’t the first time Ardagna managed this feat. Tournament staff told a story of Ardagna dropping down to a single ante chip during the 2013 Fallsview Poker Classic $2,500 event, and he went on to win that tournament for more than CAD $300,000.
