We missed the hand, but the players at the table were still buzzing about John Hennigan’s elimination several minutes later and they were more than happy to fill us in on the action.
According to the table, Nick Mitchell (agriffrod) raised to 5,200, a player called behind him, and John Hennigan made it 17,500 to play. Mitchell fired right back with a raise to 43,000, prompting a fold from the second player and a call from Hennigan.
The flop fell 10-7-3 and Hennigan checked. Mitchell announced he was all-in and Hennigan instantly called off his remaining 80,000 chips with 5-5. His pair of fives had the best of Mitchell’s A-9 for the moment, but a 7 on the turn and a 10 on the river counterfeited Hennigan’s pair.
Mitchell’s ace kicker was good enough to rake in the massive pot, bust Hennigan, and push him towards the top of the leaderboard.
Nick Mitchell – 460,000 (230 BBs)
John Hennigan – eliminated
