The pace of eliminations slowed down abruptly as the last level of Day 2 moved into the last half-hour, with the number of players remaining holding steady at 42 for more than 20 minutes.
Wei Xu finally went out in 42nd place, then a hand arose over on Table 65 that saw John Paul Tabago all in and at risk of going out in 41st.
In that hand action reaches the turn with the board showing [Qc][Jh][7s], at which point Tabago checks, Daniel Cote bets 120,000, Tabago pushes all in for around 220,000, and after thinking a short bit Cote calls.
Cote has [Ah][Qh] for top pair, but Tabago has flopped a set with [7h][7c]. The [Kh] lands on the turn to give Cote a flush draw, but the river is the [3s] and Tabago survives.
"Had a bit of a sweat!" says Tabago as he collects the chips.
John Paul Tabago – 440,000 (18 bb)
Daniel Cote – 955,000 (40 bb)
Wei Xu – Eliminated
