Joshua Lawson Doubles Thru Shawn Cunix

Joshua Lawson

Shawn Cunix raises UTG+1 to 75,000, Aaron Mermelstein calls from middle position, Philippe Belley calls from the hijack, and Joshua Lawson (pictured) moves all in from the button for 170,000.

Cunix four-bets it to 475,000, and Mermelstein and Belley both fold.

Lawson turns over 6club6spade, and Cunix shows KclubJdiamond. When Belley sees Cunix’s hand, he says, “Oh, come on.” Cunix says, “I don’t want to let you turkeys in.” Belley says, “I had sevens.”

As things stand, Lawson needs his pocket sixes to hold up to stay alive.

The board comes Qspade3heart3club2diamond2heart, and Lawson wins the pot with two pair, sixes and threes, to more than triple up in chips.

Belley, who (if he is to be believed) would’ve eliminated Lawson if he hadn’t been raised out of the pot, quietly mutters, “Genius.”

Joshua Lawson  –  580,000  (19 bb)
Shawn Cunix  –  4,975,000  (165 bb)
