Jungleman's Quitting Poker

Dec 19, 2014

After one of the first hands of the day was done Dan ‘Jungleman’ Cates announced that this might be the moment for him to quit poker.

We pick up the action as the board shows 2heartQdiamondJclub3heart. Brandon Steven bets 27,500 from the small blind and Cates calls from the button.

The river is the Qspade, and Steven immediately bets 42,000, which gets Cates talking.

“You trying to nail me with the kay-jay?” Cates says, and Doug Polk bursts out in laughter.

“There is stuff that I can beat,” Cates continues.

“Like what?” Steven asks.

“Like ten-eight,” Cates smiles.

“You got ace-five?” Steven asks, and Cated confirms.

“Am I allowed to show my cards without folding?” Cates asks, and immediately both Scott Seiver and Igor Kurganov tell him “No”.

After a while Cates calls and Steven turns over his 5diamond5club right away.

“I might have to quit poker now,” Cates sighs as he mucks his cards.

The players at the table are all laughing, and the atmosphere couldn’t be any better to start the day.

Brandon Steven – 460,000
Daniel Cates – 445,000
