Day 2 of the World Poker Tour Amsterdam Season 2017-2018 €3,300 Main Event has come to an end with 24 players remaining and the money bubble has burst to secure all remaining hopefuls a payday of €5,410. Before the cards got back underway at the Holland Casino in the heart of the city, another 13 players bought in to create a field of 207 entries and prize pool of €590,170. The winner can look forward to a payday of €156,370 and that also includes the entry to the WPT Tournament of Champions worth $15,000.
Best-positioned to enter the WPT Champion’s Club is American poker pro Justin Bonomo, who went through the day like a wrecking ball and sent several opponents to the rail before bagging up 790,500. Among those to fall victim to Bonomo’s hot run was also WPT Champion’s Club member Anthony Zinno, who busted just before the money bubble and left Canada’s Ema Zajmovic as the only remaining former WPT champion in the field with a stack of 370,500.
Paul Berende follows in second place with 662,500 and was also responsible for the money bubble to burst after winning a flip with ace-queen against the pocket treys of Ilan Buskila. Other big stacks and notables still in contention include Igor Yaroshevskyy (306,000), JC Alvarado (278,500), 2017 WPT Amsterdam runner-up Louis Salter (274,000), Rens Feenstra (257,000), Beatrice Alisauskaite (240,000), Hossein Ensan (190,000), Olvedo Heinze (189,500), Jonathan Abdellatif (140,000) and Alberto Stegeman (116,000).
Besides Zinno, three other WPT Champion’s Club members were eliminated throughout the day including 2015 WPT Amsterdam champion Farid Yachou, Ryan Riess and Chino Rheem. Riess had his pocket queens cracked by ace-jack and departed early on. Other big names such as Govert Metaal, Byron Kaverman, Steve O’Dwyer, Kevin MacPhee, Felipe Ramos, Ludovic Geilich, Alex Foxen, Kristen Bicknell, Jack Salter and former WSOP Main Event finalist Michiel Brummelhuis also missed out on the money.
The action for Day 3 is set to recommence at 2 p.m. local time on Thursday April 19th 2018 with 8:25 left in level 17 at blinds of 2,500/5,000 with a running ante of 500. The penultimate tournament day is playing down to the last six and the WPT live reporting team will be on the floor to provide all the action.
