We wondered at the beginning off the day if an Irishman could take home the WPT Ireland title just like an Italian took down the WPT Venice title a few weeks ago. Day One ended with Irishman David Callaghan topping the charts, which is why we posed that question.
Callaghan will not be bringing the title home to Ireland after just being eliminated in a 350,000 pot. Callaghan has just handed that baton to Ken Doherty so let’s see how far he can run with it!
We didn’t see the action, just a hell of a lot of chips, the cards and one disappointed Callaghan. Doherty held [9h] [7h] for a flopped flush and Callaghan held [6s] [6c] for the flopped set. The board was [Ah] [6h] [5h] [Kh] [Qs]
