Len Ashby Doubles Thru Allen Kessler

Apr 10, 2011

1084 Len Ashby
Action folds to Len Ashby on the button and he moves all-in for 10,700.  Amanda Musumeci is in the small blind and thinks a second before folding.  Allen Kessler is in the big blind and looks at his hole cards.

"Oh no," Kessler mutters. He looks at Ashby’s stack, then asks the dealer to pull in the 800 chips from his blind. He takes a minute to think, then calls.

Ashby turns over [7h8h] and Kessler says, "It’s a race."

Ashby lets out a laugh. "You have pocket sixes?"

Kessler flips over [6c6d] as the dealer puts down the [KhKd8s] flop. Ashby’s pair of eights holds as the turn brings the [Qc] and the river the [5c] to give him the pot and the double up.

"Yay," Ashby exclaims. Now I get to watch the rest of the Masters. Ashby is sitting right in front of one of the large screens in the room and has been intently watching the golf action all day.

While Ashby celebrates, Kessler is irritated. "I knew I was ahead and I knew I was going to lose." Kessler continues to mutter until Ashby firmly, but humorously puts an end to the complaining.

"Allen," he tells him. "Don’t do that to me. We were both sitting here rooting on KJ Choi together and now that he can’t win, we should be rooting for me to double up again."

Len Ashby – 23,000
Allen Kessler – 68,000
