Leo McClean may have got off to a tough start on his Day 1a, but he has survived the early levels and played his way back into it. He may end it as chip-leader.
Leo and Dave Quince got into a raising war that was only going one way. Leo made it 3500 to go, Dave popped it to 10.5k, Leo re-raised to 25.5k and Quince in his own words ‘ripped it’, with Leo snap-calling. Mcclean was at risk for his hard-earned 90k stack, but he held the best hand pre-flop, pocket aces! Quince grimaced and turned over pocket kings.
The flop was ‘horrendous’ in Leo’s eyes – – giving Quince queens as well as kings for a heartbreaking suckout. But a brick on the turn and then “…paint on the river. I saw the paint!” (Leo) a…. jack on the river saw McClean double up to 180,000. He now has 210,000 and a grin as wide as this gargantuan casino, Dusk Till Dawn, voted best cardroom in Europe 5 times in a row.
