Earlier we reported that local boy Alex Varga was our chip leader with 90,000 chips. It seems chip stacks can shrink as quickly as they can grow.

Online high stakes cash game player Ronny Kaiser sat down on Varga’s table and Varga welcomed him into the game by running a three-barrel bluff. Kaiser stood strong and called all three streets and Varga had successfully dusted off a substantial portion of his chips. Then this happened:-

Varga makes a standard pre flop raise, Bodo Sbrzesny calls as does the small blind. The flop is [Qx] [8x] [3x] (with two hearts) and the small blind checks to Sbrzensy who bets 1,000. Varga makes the call but the small blind check-raises to 2,500. Sbrzesny is next to act and he re-raises to 8,000, the small blind folds but Varga makes the call. The turn is the [Tx] and Varga check-calls a 12,000 Sbrzesny bet. Finally on the river we see the [6h] and Varga checks to Sbzesny who puts him all-in. The Austrian eventually finds a call and his [Qx] [Tx] is no good against the [8x] [8x] of Sbrzesny.

Sbrzesny ~ 95,000
Kaiser ~ 80,000
Varga ~ Out
