Ludovic Geilich Hunting that Dutch Flag

Ludovic Geilich has been on somewhat of a tear lately, with five final tables from his last seven cashes. He’s here in Amsterdam after a €250,000 score in Barcelona, and is enjoying the city.

“The weather’s really good outside,” said Geilich, “We got up this morning, grabbed some breakfast at this really nice spot. Walked around and got a bit of fresh air; the sun was beautiful.”

Geilich came into the day with 33,000, and the fresh air must have done the trick because he secured an early double to just under 70,000.

“Amsterdam is never one of the softest spots to play in,” continued Geilich, “I’m saying that mainly because of the location. I’d say that there are a lot of players in this field who are grinders or play for a living. Not all of them are the top pros, but regs for sure.

“But regardless of that, Amsterdam is such a chilled location to come to. Lots of poker players love it here, with the coffee shops and the apartments are all beautiful. I’ve been here so many times and I’ve never stayed in a bad location.”

Geilich’s best result in a WPT Main Event was an 14th place at WPT UK Nottingham for £14,000 two years ago, but he’s not setting his eyes on running deep in this event just yet.

“It’s all about the flag first; I want to get the Dutch flag first of all. I need to get it! I’ve been here four or five times, so I want that under my belt.

“But to win a WPT would be insane. I’ve gone and grinded them in the United States a few times, and no success, so to win one would be surreal.”
