Dec 9, 2012
Tony Chang opens to 90,000 in first position, Michael Gagliano three-bets to 225,000 in the cutoff and Bodo Sbrzesny four-bets to 475,000 on the button. The action is back to Chang and once again he takes his time.
"If I move all-in will you call?" He asks Sbrzesny with a rye smile. Time floats by. "How much do you have?" Chang asks Gagliano.
"I had two million starting the hand." Says a clearly irritated Gagliano.
Eventually, Chang folds, Gagliano moves all-in and Sbrzesny calls.
Showdown
Sbrzesny: [Qh] [Qs]
Gagliano: [Ah] [Ac]
"I folded pocket jacks…I folded pocket jacks," says Chang.
The American and German remain solid as stone. The dealer goes into the deck, the media surround the table…and then they see it. The [Qd] on the flop creates an uneasy silence around the table. Sbrzesny has done it again. This man cannot lose a hand when it matters. The rest of the board runs out [8s] [2h] [5d] [8d] and the unfortunate Gagliano is out.
Sbzresny ~ 5.3 million
Chang ~ 3.3 million
