MonteDam Swing Leader Andreas Klatt Eyes Another Deep Run here in Amsterdam

Andreas Klatt has had a busy week. Not only did he win the €1,000 PokerStars National Championship, and come second in the Monte Carlo Main Event, he’s now at the top of the MonteDam Swing leaderboard coming into the WPTDeepStacks Amsterdam.

Such is the whirlwind nature of his week, he didn’t have time to celebrate his first victory until last night after the conclusion of the Main Event.

“We went out for a party last night,” said a bleary-eyed but smiling Klatt, “I then got on a flight in the morning and headed right here; I didn’t even sleep!”

The German says that he didn’t even know about the MonteDam Swing until after he won the first event.

“I won the event and they came up and told me that I have to go to Amsterdam now! I think the idea is very good because all the players get to travel more. I’ve come to Amsterdam before, but I’ve never played poker here.”

Even though he’s probably had the best run-good any poker player could dream of having in a week, Klatt is already eyeing up a third deep run.

“I think it’s a very good opportunity to get another deep run, but I’m going to stay humble. I just take every tournament as it comes. That’s how you’re supposed to play tournaments. If you’re superstitious then it’s the wrong game for you.”

Klatt is going to play the WPT Main Event as well, and afterwards he’s heading off to play a full Las Vegas schedule just as he did the year before. We asked him if he was looking to add things to his schedule after his success over the past week.

“You mean High Rollers and stuff? No, I don’t think I can beat them,” he said, “I know all the good German players, and I don’t think I can beat them! I’m probably solid, but not that good!”
