Nelson Michelet Tops Record-Setting Day 1d in 2024 WPT Prime Paris Championship

Day 1d chip leader Nelson Michelet

The tables of the Club Circus Paris were bursting with poker action and each one of them was required for the final two starting days of the 2024 WPT Prime Paris €1,100 Championship Event.

After very strong numbers across the first three flights in as many days prior, the fourth Day 1 reeled in a total of 334 entries. Combined with the tally of all previous heats, the 1,071 entries of the previous edition in 2023 were essentially reached with the turbo heat still to come.

Ultimately, only the top 42 finishers were set to advance and it took until the early morning hours when Omar Lakhdari knocked out Guillaume Garcia to ensure himself and everyone else around bar Garcia a portion of the seven-figure prize pool. Lakhdari finished the penultimate flight with 660,000, good enough for ninth place of this flight’s standings.

Only one player reached seven figures and Nelson Michelet topped the leaderboard with 1,080,000 ahead of Kostya Zaks (888,000) and Hugues Girard (800,000). Further notables to advance were Andy Black (758,000), Maria Lampropoulos (248,000), Farukh Tach (213,000), Matthieu Lamagnere (183,000), as well as Jean Paul Zaffran (90,000).
