Earlier, we mentioned that Dwyte Pilgrim had an incredible run here at the Beau Rivage Southern Poker Championship, with two victories and a second-place finish. But there were a few other top pros who made strong showings in the preliminary events.
Last night, Chris Bell won a $3,000 no-limit hold’em event, and last week, Jason Mercier won a $1,000 no-limit hold’em event. Mercier just claimed the Bluff Magazine 2009 Player of the Year award, and continues his too-long-to-merely-call-it-a-hot-streak hot streak.
A week ago, Nick Binger won a $1,000 no-limit hold’em event, and two days later, his brother Michael Binger won a $500 pot-limit Omaha event. The brothers pointed out that they have reached the final two tables together about half a dozen times, but they’ve never reached the same final table. That streak continued here at the Beau Rivage, but at least they each picked up a victory.
