Defending WPT Legends of Poker champion Pat Lyons (pictured) moves all in from middle position for 111,000, and Michael Zelman calls from the hijack with Spade AClub K. Lyons turns over Club AHeart 6, and once again he’s dominated by Zelman and facing elimination.

The board comes Spade JHeart 3Spade 2Diamond AClub 6, and Lyons spikes a six on the river to win the pot with two pair, aces and sixes, to stay alive and double up in chips.

Pat Lyons  –  238,000  (40 bb)
Michael Zelman  –  160,000  (27 bb)

There’s still a long way to go, but it’s worth noting that no WPT champion has ever successfully defended their title the next year. Could Lyons be the first to do it?
