Andre Petrovic and Rifat Palevic arrived at this tournament as friends, but that friendship is currently being put to the test as they trade blows just a few seats from one another. Here is an example of the type of hands the two are getting embroiled in.
We join the action on a flop of [Tc] [7d] [4s] and both players check. Fourth street is the [Js] and Palevic check-calls a 6,000 Petrovic bet. The river card is the [Jh] and Palevic fires out a meaty 20,000 bet. He doesn’t look at Petrovic. Instead he puts his earphones in and cranks up the volume. After a while he can’t help himself. He takes off his earphones, looks at Petrovic and shouts, "Play with me! Come On! Come on! I have ace-ace…I have ace-ace."
By this time Petrovic is looking redder than a radish and finally folds pocket kings, face-up. Palevic bursts out laughing but only shows the lone [Qd] before scopping in the pot.
Palevic ~ 65,000
Petrovic ~ 97,000
