Feb 27, 2011

A player raises preflop to 6,000, Chad Batista reraises to 22,000, and Phil Hellmuth moves all in for 42,000. The initial raiser folds, and Batista calls with [Ad10c]. Hellmuth shows [10d10s], and he’s a favorite to double up.

The board comes [Js5c5sAc8h], and Batista pairs his ace on the turn to win the pot and eliminate Phil Hellmuth from the tournament.

Chad Batista  –  356,000
Phil Hellmuth  –  Eliminated

Hellmuth gave a brief interview to the WPT cameras after busting, and he said he had two big hands today, and lost both on bad beats. Earlier today, a player moved all in with king-queen, and Hellmuth called with pocket queens — but a king hit the board. Hellmuth said he treaded water for another three hours or so before losing this hand against Batista.
