Jesus Sanchez and Sung Baek have both been blinding down, and it eventually becomes clear that unless one of them pushes early, they’ll be forced all in on the same hand.
Dong Le limps under the gun for 120,000, Peter Hengsakul limps from the button, and Sung Baek checks his option in the big blind with just 35,000 left behind.
The flop comes , and it checks to Hengsakul, who bets 200,000. Baek and Le both fold, and Hengsakul takes the pot.
Sung Baek – 35,000
Jesus Sanchez – 15,000
The next hand, Sanchez is forced all in for 75% of the ante, creating a small main pot, while Baek is forced all in for 75% of the small blind, creating a small side pot.
Everyone folds to Dong Le in the big blind, who jokes, “I have to call here.” (In fact, Le gets 110,000 back from his big blind.)
Here are their cards in descending order of chip counts:
Dong Le:
Sung Baek:
Jesus Sanchez:
The two short stacks are actually ahead preflop with ace high and king high.
The board comes , and Baek wins both the main pot and the side pot with a pair of kings, eliminating Sanchez in 13th place.
Sung Baek – 170,000 (1 bb)
Dong Le – 5,150,000 (43 bb)
Jesus Sanchez – Eliminated in 13th Place ($13,000)
