Every year, the Borgata Poker Open is a memorable event on the WPT calendar, but Season VII sticks out for one particular reason: winner Vivek Rajkumar.

The young pro positively steamrolled through the competition, playing from six players down to his title in just 48 hands. The table took just about three hours to complete in a flurry of blink and you’ll miss it action.

Today feels eerily similar, as Kane Kalas has, so far, eliminated every opponent in his way save for Darren Elias, and has done so in the span of just 45 hands.

With a formidable heads-up foe like Elias to contend with, it seems unlikely Kalas will play his way to victory in just two hands, but there is still an outside chance this tournament could break the record set six years ago.

Nonetheless, Kalas eliminating opponents on back-to-back hands on two separate occassions so far this afternoon is something that is going to make this final table stand out along with Rajkumar’s year.

With these two heads-up with some chips to work with, we are likely to see a heads-up battle more along the lines of Olivier Busquet vs Jeremy Brown than Vivek Rajkumar vs Sang Kim, but either way, we’ve got some good poker ahead of us.
