Scott Hempel Check-Shoves River on Daniel Strelitz

WPT Champions Club member Daniel Strelitz raises to 80,000 from under the gun and Scott Hempel calls in the big blind as the flop lands .

Hempel checks and Strelitz bets 100,000. Hempel calls, and when the turn lands the , both players check.

Hempel responds by check-raising to 1,600,000 and Strelitz immediately sits up.

“I nearly checked behind,” Strelitz says.

Strelitz pushes his last two time extensions forward.

“I can’t beat anything,” Strelitz says. “But I have a really strong hand.”

As Strelitz’s time is set to expire, he tosses his hand into the muck to award Hempel the pot.

“I was not expecting that,” Strelitz says after folding.
