Hand #131: The action starts with a button limp by Seonguk Huh and Yannick Leonard pushes all-in for 4,200,000 out of the big blind, leading to the snap-call by Huh.
Yannick Leonard:
Seonguk Huh:
Leonard is behind this time and the French rail shouts for the jack of hearts prior to and after the flop. They fall silent on the turn and Leonard embraces Huh already even before the river completes the board and the Main Event.
That concludes the biggest ever WPT Prime Main Event at the Asia Poker Arena in Taipei City. The flagship 2023 WPT Prime Taiwan Main Event attracted a staggering field of 1,359 entries to generate a prize pool of TWD 39,546,900 ($1,237,387) and the largest slice of that was distributed on the final table.
South Korea’s Huh takes home the top prize of TWD 6,319,800 ($197,741), the WPT Prime Main Event trophy and a $10,400 seat for the season-ending WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas on top of his cash prize with travel and accommodation covered by the WPT. Runner-up Leonard collects TWD 4,212,000 ($131,790) for the efforts.
The festival in the capital of Taiwan was held in cooperation with the Chinese Texas Hold’em Poker Association (CTP Club), which hosted the new mid-stakes poker tour for the second consecutive year and third WPT live poker event so far. Taipei has become one of the hottest destinations for live poker in the Asia-Pacific region and the WPT will return to the same venue in August 2024.
