WPT Champions Club member Shawn Cunix (pictured) just re-entered, and arrived at Table 4 with a fresh stack of 40,000 in chips, and when he said, “Thank God I got this table. I’ve been rooting for this table.” As soon as Cunix sits down in Seat 1, he reaches across the table with his phone to take a close-up photo of Jean Gaspard, and they both laugh.
In Cunix’s first hand, Lazaro Hernandez raises under the gun to 2,400, and Cunix quickly calls from middle position.
The flop comes , Hernandez bets 5,000, and Cunix calls.
The turn card pairs the board with the , Hernandez checks, Cunix bets 7,000, and Hernandez calls.
The river card double-pairs the board with the , Hernandez bets 12,000, and as Cunix stops to think, Hernandez says, “You’re calling everything. You might as well call this.”
Cunix thinks for a while before he moves all in for 25,600, and now Hernandez stops to think.
Hernandez asks, “Will you show me if I fold?”
Cunix replies, “For $100, I might.”
Hernandez folds, and Cunix proudly says, “Queen high!” as he turns over for a missed straight draw. Cunix takes the pot.
