We last saw Sofia Lovgren in London playing in the 888poker WPT500 (pictured above), where she finished a respectable 41st place for £2,580. This time around she’s in Amsterdam for a crack at the WPT Main Tour.
“After the WPT500 London I went to Barcelona to play,” said Lovgren, “And then I just decided to come here last minute yesterday. It’s so close to Barcelona. It’s a good tournament so obviously, I wanted to come here!
“It’s one of my favorite cities in Europe. Wonderful to walk around, it’s so green. You can enjoy the nice weather. There’s a lot to do just looking around in the city!”
With so much on offer on the live circuit these days, Lovgren says that she tries to find the best tournaments in a similar sort of area.
“I can play 2-3 one after the other. I like to have a nice mix of different tours.”
Lovgren has been hovering around starting stack for much of the day, but crucially lost the minimum in a pot where she had a set.
“I hadn’t hit many boards but I made the blinds are still low, and they’re still the really early levels.
“When I had a set, I guess my opponent was disappointed he slow-played because he realized we could have got it all in on the flop. But the flush got there and he slowed down, and I was happy to check it back. It’s just as important to minimize the losses as much as it is to win when you have a really big hand.”
Lovgren is still in with three levels remaining on Day 1b of the WPT Amsterdam Main Event.
