Stefan “Stefan11222” Burakov has won both his matches in the first round against Timothy Adams, making himself the second player after Dan Smith to secure a ticket for Round 2. The 2-0 score makes the situation sound more dominant than it was, as Burakov was down severely numerous times, only to get back to even and eventually winning.
Adams got off to a good start turning trips against Burakov’s top-pair, winning him a nice pot. It could’ve been bigger though, as Adams failed to raise the river while he intended to do so. A nice bluf with the nut flush blocker against Burakov’s third pair saw Adams take an even bigger lead, but it was back to even right after as Burakov doubled hitting a king with ace-king against Adams’ pocket sevens. The match swung back and forth a bit with Burakov losing more pots than he won. He found another double, though, as he made a straight with seven-six suited allin before the flop against Adams’ ace-jack. Burakov won the match not much later.
The second match saw Burakov down to six big blinds against Adams’ 43 big blinds at one point, only for him to fight his way back into it through some doubles and a couple non-showdown pots. Burakov found a big double with king-queen suited against Adams’ ace-jack off-suit to get ahead in the second match. Ultimately, with stacks shallow and the blinds massive, Burakov got it in with against Adams’ . The board ran out 6h7d5sQc8c and Burakov scored 2-0: knocking out Adams.
