Steve Buckner has told us about a big three-way all-in situation that he was involved in late last level.
Buckner raised to 3,500, Curt Kohlberg reraised to 12,000, and WPT Champions Club member Joe Tehan called. Buckner four-bet all in for about 80,000, and Kohlberg called all in for a little bit less than that.
Tehan flipped a literal coin to decide whether or not to call, and the coin landed on the “call” side, so Tehan called, easily covering both players.
These were their cards in descending order of chip counts:
Joe Tehan:
Steve Buckner:
Curt Kohlberg:
Buckner was the underdog, but there was an ace in the window as the dealer put out the flop, giving Buckner a huge lead. Tehan and Kohlberg never caught up, and Buckner won the entire pot with his pair of aces to triple up in chips and eliminate Kohlberg.
Steve Buckner – 240,000 (120 bb)
Joe Tehan – 110,000 (55 bb)
Curt Kohlberg – Eliminated
Keep in mind that this happened before registration closed, so it’s possible that Kohlberg may have re-entered.
