Steven Silverman Eliminated in 16th Place ($34,719)

Dan Smith and Steven Silverman (pictured above left, next to Curt Kohlberg) together see a flop with Smith playing from under the gun, Silverman from the button, and about 140,000 in the middle when the first three community cards come [9c][9d][5h].  

Smith leads at the flop with a bet of 48,000 and Silverman calls. The turn brings the [Qd]. Smith thinks a moment, then sets out a bet of 123,000.  Silverman pauses a few beats then announces he’s all in for the stack of a little under 500,000 he has left, and Smith calls without hestitation.

Silverman turns over [Kh][Qh] for queens and nines, but Smith has [Ah][9h] for trip nines. The river is the [8c], and Silverman wishes the table good luck before departing in 16th place.
