The First Casualty on Day 1B

Sep 28, 2018

The field size for Day 1B has increased to 82 entries mid-way through the second level of the day and the first player has been eliminated. It happens to be Dutchman Danny van Zijp, who sends his chips over to Moroccan Kamal Sefrioui.

In a three-way three-bet pot, some 8,500 were in the middle until the Club JClub 9Spade 2Diamond 4 turn and Sefrioui checks out of the big blind. Next up it is van Zijp who bets 5,100 and the third player in the hand folds. Sefrioui gives it some thought and moves all in for more than 30,000, van Zijp calls and the following cards are turned over.

Danny van Zijp: Club QDiamond J
Kamal Sefrioui: Diamond AClub A

The river is the blank Club K and that’s it for the Dutchman in the first attempt on Day 1B.

Kamal Sefrioui – 65,000
