Immdiately before the most recent break, Phil Laak mixed it up in two big hands while keeping things loose.

Phil Laak is on his second bullet of the day and he’s all in with the flop reading Club AClub 7Club 3 and four other players along for the ride. His bet is for 14,275 and Abbas Alikhani is standing at his seat. He thinks it over while Laak tries to talk him into a call.

“Come on big stack!” Laak laughed. “You can afford it!”

Alikhani folds his hand and action is on Emanual Sese, his turn to think it over.

“It’s a value bluff blocker defense bet!” Laak jokes with the rest of the table.

“Call if you don’t like money.”

While Sese in deep thought, Bryce Carroll-Coe calls the clock on him and Sese throws his entire 10,500 stack in the middle before anyone can count him down. The remaining players fold and Sese is ahead with Spade ASpade K against Laak’s Spade 2Heart 2.

“I though I had the deuce of clubs,” Laak tells him.

The Heart A turn and Club Q river send the pot to Sese while leaving Laak short and looking at the time left to register.

“Thanks for calling the clock,” Sese tells Carroll-Coe. “I would have folded if I had more time.”

On the next hand, one player opens to 2,300 from under the gun, Carroll-Coe moves all in for 11,675 and Laak calls for less. The original raiser considers coming along but releases his hand after flashing X AX Q. Laak needs help with Club 10Club 9 against Carroll-Coe’s Club JSpade J but the Diamond ADiamond 7Club 5 flop provides none. (Though it did get the opening player to jump out of his seat with the ace).

“I have an extra 2% equity for standing up,” Laak laughed while packing up his belongings.

Laak picks up a flush draw on the Club 2 turn but whiffs the Heart Q river to exit. He still has time to get in before the break and he was heading toward the registration desk as the second break hits.
