Adam Sutch raises from the button to 22,000, and Toby Joyce (pictured) reraises from the small blind to about 180,000, leaving himself a single 1K chip behind. Sutch moves all in.
There is a similar hand involving Jim Collopy at the next table, where he is the short stack and mostly all in, facing an all-in bet, and there is a pay jump after the next bustout. Joyce keeps taking looks at the other table as he uses two of his Time Chips to tank for more than a minute. When he sees Collopy get it all in and the hand run out, Joyce calls.
Joyce turns over , and he needs to improve to stay alive against Sutch’s .
The board comes , and Sutch wins the pot with two pair, aces and eights, and his king kicker to eliminate Joyce from the tournament.
While Collopy was eliminated a few moments before Joyce, the house rule here is that if there is a pay jump and players at different tables are eliminated on the same hand, they combine the prizes for the two spots and split them evenly between them. So both players are awarded a tie for 14th place, and they both earn $15,592.50.
Adam Sutch – 1,090,000 (109 bb)
Toby Joyce – Eliminated in a Tie for 14th Place ($15,592.50)
