Two Season VII Winners Clash

Jul 13, 2009

Cornel Andrew Cimpan, Vadim Trincher, and Mike Watson are all seated together at table 59.  All three took home a WPT title in Season Seven when Cimpan won the LAPC, Trincher took down the Foxwoods Poker Classic and Watson won here at the Bellagio Cup one year ago.

In a recent hand Cimpan and Trincher, two of the more aggressive players we saw last season, just battled it out in an incredible hand.

Vadim Trincher limped in from under the the gun and a player in early position raised to 800.  The raise was called in three spots and when action was back onto Trincher, he reraised to 5,000.  Everyone got out of the way except for Cornel Andrew Cimpan, who called from the cut off, last to act.

The flop came [8c8s6d]. Trincher led out for a bet and Cimpan called quickly.  The turn brought the [3c] and again Trincher bet, this time for 14,000.  Cimpan called.

The river brought the [Qd] and Trincher fired another shell of 25,000.  Cimpan thought for less than a minute before making the call.

Trincher:  [KsJc]
Cimpan: [Ad7c]

Trincher bet the whole way with complete air, getting called down by Cimpan’s ace-high.  Zach Hyman, also at the table asked Cimpan "What did you put him on?"

Cimpan replied, "Exactly what he showed" as he raked in the pot, shooting to the top of the leaderboard with 170,000.
