Vanessa Selbst Jumps Out to the Chip Lead

Sep 20, 2011

0216 Vanessa Selbst
Vanessa Selbst limps in from under the gun, David Paredes calls behind her, another player calls from middle position, and Jeff Vertes raises to 3,500 in late position.  The player in the big blind calls, as does Selbst, Paredes, and the player in middle position.

The flop comes down [6c3s2c] and action checks around.  The turn is the [6s] and the player in the big blind checks.  Selbst bets 7,200, Paredes calls, and the player in middle position and Vertes both fold.

The player in the big blind then check-raises to 22,000 and Selbst fires back by making it 55,800 to play.  Paredes calls, leaving around 75,000 behind, and the player in the big blind calls as well.

The river is the [Jh] and the player in the big blind checks.  Selbst bets 68,000 and Paredes thinks a minute or two before calling, leaving himself with just 10,000 chips.

The player in the big blind throws up a hand in frustration and thinks for a minute or two before calling as well.

Selbst shows [3c3d] for treys full of sixes and both Paredes and the player in the big blind muck.

Selbst rakes in one of the biggest pots of the tournaments and jumps out to a substantial lead with 528,000 chips.

Vanessa Selbst – 528,000
David Paredes – 10,500
