The World Poker Tour returns to the Kingdom of Cambodia for the first time since 2019 and the ballroom of the NagaWorld Integrated Resort in Phnom Penh hosts the 2022 WPT Prime Cambodia poker festival. It is the third event of the new mid-stakes tour which replaces the former WPTDeepStacks series and will aim to continue the successful start following stops in Hanoi, Vietnam and Gold Coast, Australia.
The festival in the capital of Cambodia already kicked off on August 11 and will conclude on August 23, spanning almost two weeks of live poker action in the thriving Asia-Pacific region. Headline tournament of the entire series is the inaugural WPT Prime $1,100 Main Event, which is expecting hundreds of poker enthusiasts from near and far.
All players receive 30,000 in chips and the levels on each of the three starting days last 40 minutes each before they increase to 60 minutes per level. The registration for each closes at the start of Level 7, at approximately 5.30 pm local time after which it will be made known how long the day lasts. Each starting day plays down to the money as one out of eight entries (approximately 12.5% of each Day 1) will advance to Day 2.
Action clocks will be put in place at the start of day two and will be used until the completion of the tournament when a champion has been crowned. Throughout the entire duration, the big blind ante format is in play and has become a standard in the poker industry all over the world.
The series in Cambodia welcomes five international partners from the Asia-Pacific region who are sending qualifiers to participate in the flagship tournament. Furthermore, the WPT’s very own Vince Van Patten and Andrew Neeme have also made the trip to the Kingdom as well. Neeme hosted one of his very popular Meet Up Games one day prior to the start of the $1,100 Main Event and took over the cash game tables in the Ballroom at Naga 1.
Stay tuned for the live updates on WPT.com as the live reporting team will be on the floor from start to finish.
