For the first time since 2019, the World Poker Tour has returned to India for WPT Prime India at the Deltin Royale casino in sunny Goa, India.
The Deltin Royale is one of the most incredible and unique venues to host a WPT event, as it is Asia’s largest off-shore gaming and entertainment destination. The venue provides not just a top-notch poker experience, but incredible amenities and exquisite views of the Goan coastline.
In 2019 it was Ashish Munot defeating Yuvraj Chaudhary heads-up to take home the WPT Deepstacks title here in Goa for $85,825, capping his triumph over a field of 630 entries which had a prizepool of $462,164. With three years since the last WPT event here, hopes are that those numbers will be eclipsed this time around.
The ₹65.000 (approximately $792 USD) Main Event kicks off Thursday at 1 p.m. local time for the first of three opening flights playing down to the money, which will be the final 12.5% of each flight. Those players will advance to Sunday’s Day 2, leading the Day 3 final table on Monday.
Those taking their shot at earning WPT glory will start their days with 30,000 chips at an opening level of 100/200 with a 200 big blind ante. Levels on each Day 1 flight will be 40 minutes in length before moving to 60 minutes on Days 2 and 3. Once the tournament is heads-up, the levels will be reduced to 30 minutes in length.
Re-entry on each Day 1 is unlimited until the close of registration at the start of level 7 (approximately 5:30 p.m. local time).
Players will receive 15-minute breaks at the completion of every third level on Day 1 and every second level on Days 2 and 3.
The WPT action clock will come into play on Day 2 once 80 players remain, and along with the big money to play for, players in the Main Event will also earn points for the WPT Player of the Year race.
The WPT live reporting team will be on-site with complete coverage of this incredible event until a champion is crowned on Monday, so keep your browsers locked here for all the action.
