With a Lion on His Head and a Gnome on His Cards, ClubWPT Qualifier William Halsey Represents His Children

ClubWPT qualifier William Halsey is very dedicated to his children, and it’s obvious even just by looking at him at the poker table — the lion hat he wears was made by his daughter, and the wooden gnome with yellow hair that he uses as a card protector was made by his son.

Halsey is from New Freedom, Pennsylvania, and he used to work in the automotive industry before shifting to a security job where he worked the night shift. Why the change in schedule? So he could spend more time with his children.

Those items were made by his kids when they were in elementary school, but now that they are teenagers Halsey is no less dedicated to them.

This is Halsey’s first WPT event, and he earned his seat by playing on ClubWPT.com. This is also his first time in California, so it gives him a chance to check out the West Coast in addition to playing against some of the best players in the world for an expected first prize worth more than $1 million.

Halsey is off to a great start, having nearly doubled his starting stack at the last break of Day 1.
