WPT Vietnam Main Event Day 1A closes with Indian players Yasheel Doddanavar & Eka Vedantham on top

The first starting day of the WPT Vietnam – Main Event – came and went with 117 unique players pouring in at Pro Poker Club for an early start at the races. Of that number, 19 re-entered for 136 entries total. While there were many countries represented, a large contingent of Indian players could not be missed which included the attendance of defending champion Dhaval Mudgal and WPT India defending champion Nikunj Jhunjhunwala.

However, by the end of the scheduled 14 rounds, instead of the two Indian champions making waves, a different set of Indians were the day’s star performers. Closing Day 1A as the chip leader was Yasheel Doddanavar (pictured) with 333,000 trailed closely by Eka Vedantham with 323,500.

Unfortunately, we weren’t able to track Doddanavar’s rise to the top however we did catch the action that helped send the second chip leader Vedantham right alongside. During Level 12, Vedantham delivered a double knockout, railing a short-stacked player with  and above average stacked Xiao Yin He with . Vedantham held  that improved on the board .

Also making it through were a couple of highly decorated local pros Quang Nguyen (181,000) and Linh Tran (135,000). The lone player from the Philippines, Richard Marquez, represented his country well with 181,000 bagged. Other big names were Jack Salter (78,500), Louis Salter (38,000), Alan Lau King Lun (114,000), Natalie Teh (86,500), Hung Sheng Lin (150,000), and Kilian Loeffler (150,600).Jhunjhunwala also advanced after doubling up on the last hand of the day. Ngày khởi động đầu tiên của WPT Vietnam Main Event tại Pro Poker Club đã chứng kiến 117 VĐV đến tham gia thi đấu, cùng 19 lượt re-entries đưa tổng entries lên con số 136. Các người chơi đến từ rất nhiều quốc gia, tuy nhiên không thể không kể đến đoàn đông đảo VĐV đến từ Ấn Độ, trong số đó có đương kim vô địch WPT Vietnam kì đầu – Dhaval Mudgal cùng đương kim vô địch WPT India Nikunj Jhunjhunwala.

Mặc dù vậy tới khi 14 level kết thúc, những cái tên nổi bật nhất không phải là hai gương mặt kể trên, mà lại là hai VĐV khác cũng đến từ Ấn Độ. Khép lại Day 1A ở vị trí chiplead là Yasheel Doddanavar với 333,000, theo sát anh là Eka Vedantham với 323,500.

Tiếc là Somuchpoker đã không thể theo dõi sát quá trình build chip của chiplead Doddanavar trong ngày thi đấu hôm nay, tuy nhiên chúng tôi cũng đã kịp thời ghi nhận lại hand giúp đưa Vadantham lên vị trí second chiplead. Ở level 12, Vadantham đã có một pha loại đồng thời cả hai người chơi khác – một VĐV short stack all in với  cùng VĐV nắm stack trung bình Xiao Yin He trên tay pocket . Vedantham với  giành chiến thắng trên mặt board .

Cùng vượt qua Day 1A với lượng stack tương đối là hai VĐV nước chủ nhà Quang Nguyễn(181,000) và Linh Trần (135,000). Đại diện duy nhất của Philippines – Richard Marquezcũng đã làm rạng danh đất nước của mình với lượng stack khá ổn 181,000. Bên cạnh đó, những tên tuổi lớn khác cũng qualify cho Day 2 có thể kể đến như Jack Salter (78.500), Louis Salter (38.000), Alan Lau King Lun (114.000), Natalie Teh (86.500), Hung Sheng Lin(150.000) và Kilian Loeffler (150.600).

VĐV đồng top 1 WPT POY hiện tại – Jhunjhunwala cũng đã ghi tên mình vào Ngày 2 sau một pha double-up tại thời điểm cuối cùng trong ngày. Còn đối với Mudgal, không may mắn khi có lẽ anh sẽ phải tìm thêm cho mình một cơ hội khác vào các ngày thi đấu vòng loại kế tiếp.
