WPTDeepStacks Black Hawk Day 1C Concludes with Zackery Whitney Leading 27 Survivors

Day 1C of the inaugural WPTDeepStacks Black Hawk $1,500 Main Event has come to a conclusion with the 116-entrant field reduced down to the final 24 players.

Zackery Whitney (pictured) ended the day as chip leader after bagging 385,000 in chips – roughly 80,000 short of Day 1A chip leader Maxwell Young, but slightly ahead of Day 1B chip leader Aaron Frei. Whitney rocketed to the top around dinner break and never let it go even as Jeremy Wood made a loud and entertaining late surge before settling in second overall with 303,000.

Yang Ruan (260,000), Mauricio Solano (243,000), Wendy Freedman (238,000), and Evan Shaughnessy (236,000) are the only other players above the 200,000-chip mark as the Day 1C chip counts fall as follows:

With all three starting flights now complete, the 251-entrant field has been reduced down to the final 47 players returning for Day 2 action at 12 p.m. (MDT) on Sunday, May 12.

The final 47 players will all be aiming to firstly reach the money-paying top 32 players where a minimum payout of $2,315 will be awaiting them. From there, it will be a run at reaching the WPTDeepStacks Black Hawk final table of nine. For those lucky nine players, they will return on Monday, May 13, where a guaranteed $7,730 payday will be awaiting them but all eyes will be on the $77,290 first-place prize that includes a $3,000 seat into the season-ending WPTDeepStacks Championship to go along with the title of the WPTDeepStacks Black Hawk Champion.
