Phnom Penh, Cambodia (October 1, 2024) – Last year, the Mike Sexton WPT® Champions Cup made its debut trip to Southeast Asia when NagaWorld Integrated Resort hosted the first-ever WPT Cambodia Championship. The coveted festival is set to return in February of 2025 and will include the addition of WPT Prime Cambodia to the tournament schedule.
The festival will run Feb. 6-24, highlighted by the $3,500 WPT Cambodia Championship scheduled Feb. 19-24. A $1.5 million guaranteed prize pool is attached to the marquee event, an increase from last year’s $1 million guarantee.
“Our festivals in Cambodia at NagaWorld have immortalized some amazing moments from record-breaking fields to the Sexton Cup’s first appearance in Southeast Asia,” said WPT CEO Adam Pliska. “Look forward to more momentous times to come as we combine the prestige and size of both the WPT Cambodia Championship and WPT Prime Cambodia into one grand festival.”
Set for Feb. 14-18, the $1,100 buy-in WPT Prime Cambodia sports a $750,000 guarantee and will play down directly ahead of the Main Tour Championship. The most recent WPT Prime Cambodia occurred in March of 2023 when Reiji Kono topped a field of more than 1,000 entrants to earn $131,731.
All in all, the WPT Cambodia festival boasts more than $3 million in guaranteed prize money and will run more than 60 tournaments, marking the longest World Poker Tour® festival in Asia to date. Other notable events on the schedule include the $600 Championship Warm Up with a $150,000 guarantee (Feb 7-10), $20,000 Super High Roller (Feb. 17-18), and $1,100 Mini Championship with a $200,000 guarantee (Feb 21-22).
